Although it is always emphasized that the pitfalls of article publication should be taken into account, the publication of credible and reliable scientific articles in high-impact scientific journals is one of the indicators of knowledge measurement in different countries. Iran has been ranked 15th in the world by publishing nearly 50,000 articles in 2018.

According to the information center of national elites foundation,Impact factor is one of the most well known journals of quality published annually by ISI. Despite the introduction of various biomedical coefficients such as the H Index, Eigen Factor and others, researchers are still trying to publish their outstanding work in higher impact publications. In 2018, more than 2,680,000 documents have been published in the WOS database, 2,435,053 of which (75%) are registered as articles and reviews. Iran has been ranked 15th in the world with about 50,000 articles published this year. This ranking is based on the total number of articles published. In fact, further studies of these articles show that 6912 (about 14%) articles from Iran in 2018 have been published in journals with a higher impact factor of four. Due to the importance of publishing articles in journals with an impact factor of four, in this respect the Islamic Republic of Iran is ranked 21st in the world with journals with an impact factor of more than four. Of these articles, 82 were published in journals with an impact factor above 15, 61 of which were in journals with an impact factor above 20.
