Deep-water technology developed; Karami: Innovative solutions help provide water resources

Emphasizing that in recent years, the issue of studying deepwater technology as new water resources in this province was raised and implemented by the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology and cooperation with knowledge-based companies, he said: Exploitation of deep water in Sistan and Baluchestan began during these years and with the efforts of Iranian specialists and youth, wells were drilled for the first time with a depth of more than two to three thousand meters.

Parviz Karami, Advisor to the Vice President of Science and Technology, referring to the help of scholars to the water shortage challenge in Sistan and Baluchestan province, said: Sistan-Baluchestan province is facing a water crisis, which has now become a problem and has overshadowed the lives of the people of this province.

Contribute to the development of innovative solutions

Adviser to the Vice President of Science and Technology, stating that to get out of this crisis, "water consumption management" and "introduction of new water resources" were among the solutions to solve the problems of the province, said:: Implementing consumption management reform in this province did not help solve the problem of Sistan and Baluchestan, so it was necessary to identify new sources.

He added: "The need for sustainable water resources in the eastern provinces caused the need to acquire technical and indigenous knowledge of deep water." Therefore, subsurface geological and geophysical studies have been conducted in recent years by drilling two wells and led to the selection of points in the Sistan plain for drilling wells. So far, 3 wells have been drilled in this area and the results of the studies have satisfied experts.

Drilling the first deep water well

Regarding the characteristics of the first well drilled for deepwater in Sistan, he said:: The most important feature of this well is the depth of 3,000 meters and lattice piping in the depths of the ground from which 1500 cubic meters of water is extracted daily. The temperature of this water is 87 degrees Celsius on the ground, which can be used as an energy source.

Karami stressed that according to current studies, the cost of extraction and even desalination of deep water in this area is much more economical than treatment, desalination, and transfer of seawater by pipe, he said:  In this regard, last week, the third well in the city of "Nimroz" in Sistan and Baluchestan, which was the result of studies of the first and second wells, reached the water and became a source of hope and happiness for the good people of Zabul.

According to Karami, the depth of this well is 1790 meters, which provides more than a thousand cubic meters of artesian per day. By installing a pump inside the well, this possibility will be increased to 8 million cubic meters of water per day from this well.

Meeting agricultural water needs

Regarding the water quality of this well, he said: "This water with this quality is suitable even for agriculture, but now in the province, the main problem is drinking water, and it can be drinkable with a little treatment.". The water from the third well is in the form of artesian and tends upwards and has better quality than the previous two wells which were exploratory.

Emphasizing that in any case, the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology is solely responsible for research and study to acquire technical and commercial knowledge in this project, and in this regard, he has especially enjoyed the special support of the Supreme Leader, he said: His support has helped both in the establishment and continuation of the work of the Vice President for Science and the National Elite Foundation and in the growth and development of knowledge-based companies and the creation of emerging technologies.

He said: "In this project, we also have the support of Mr. Raisi (President) and the altar of the Minister of Energy by attending the location of deep wells and holding several special meetings for special coordination shows the attention to the issue of deep water."

Innovative solutions for water extraction in developed countries

According to the advisor to the Deputy Minister of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Energy is responsible for water exploitation in the country, and deep water is one of them. Therefore, the scientific deputy is responsible for synergy and application of technology for studies and acquisition of technical knowledge, as well as the use of technology in water treatment. In this project, with the cooperation of knowledge-based companies, water extraction and construction of nano water desalination devices for the exploitation of this water have been achieved.

Karami, stating that the technical knowledge of using deep water has now been obtained by the country's researchers, said: In most of the world's leading countries, the United States, Australia, etc. have used deep water in low-water areas for more than eighty years.

Emphasizing that every technology has advantages and disadvantages, he continued: "In Sistan and Baluchestan and the eastern part of the country, it depends on such technology, and we must use deep water based on advantages, based on logic and knowledge."

According to the Vice President of Science and Technology Advisor, the President's support for the deepwater exploitation project in Sistan and Baluchestan Province is encouraging; The Minister of Energy also provided good support by visiting these wells, while in previous years there was no such support.
