Iran unveils national AI platform, aiming for global competitiveness
Iran has launched its first national artificial intelligence (AI) platform, a project developed over the past decade by a team of 100 researchers.

Hossein Afshin, Vice President for Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, described the initiative as a major step toward AI self-sufficiency and technological independence.
Afshin emphasized that AI development is a strategic priority for Iran, closely aligned with the country’s long-term scientific vision.
He noted that the Supreme Leader has repeatedly highlighted AI as a key national focus. “We presented Iran’s National AI Plan in October, recognizing its realization as a major milestone,” he said.
The platform is designed to evolve continuously, with a trial version expected in September and a full-scale launch set for March 2026.
Afshin also announced plans to integrate a high-performance computing infrastructure to support AI research and applications.
“Iran has officially entered the global AI arena,” he stated, adding that the country’s platform will offer unique features compared to international models.
He concluded, “We have worked quietly but effectively, and today marks a proud achievement for the nation.”
