Iran’s culture minister backs Int’l Ahmad Neirizi Award to promote Quranic calligraphy
Iran’s Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance, Seyed Abbas Salehi, has expressed strong support for the establishment of the International Ahmad Neirizi Award, an initiative led by the Fars Province Elites Foundation, to honor renowned Quranic calligraphy artist the award is named after, the National Elites Foundation’s Information Center reported.

During a meeting in Shiraz, attended by the minister and the Governor of Fars Province, the head of the Fars Elites Foundation, Habib Sharif, outlined plans for the award, emphasizing its significance in promoting Quranic calligraphy within the Islamic world.
Sharif said the foundation under his commnand hopes to accelerate the implementation of the award with the support of the Ministry of Culture and other relevant institutions.
Master Ahmad Neirizi, celebrated as one of the most skilled calligraphers of the Nastaliq script, is credited with harmonizing the structure of Arabic letters with Persian mystical aesthetics, creating a unique style in Islamic calligraphy.
Minister Salehi praised the initiative, calling it a valuable effort to preserve and promote Iran’s rich cultural heritage.
He pledged full support for the award, highlighting its potential to inspire future generations of calligraphers and strengthen cultural ties within the Islamic world.
