Iran taps over 500 top minds to modernize national science roadmap
More than 500 Iranian academics and elite researchers have contributed to updating Iran's Comprehensive Scientific Roadmap, a strategic document guiding the nation's science and technology development through 2025, said the Communications and Information Center of the Iranian Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy.

The initiative, overseen by the vice presidency, aims to align the country's research priorities with rapid global technological advances.
The Secretariat for the Modernization of the Comprehensive Scientific Map initiated a nationwide call in December 2024 to involve elites, academics, and scientific professionals in the national endeavor.
"The strong response from our scientific community demonstrates the importance of this strategic document," said Hossein Heirani, head of the roadmap's update secretariat.
"These evidence-based contributions will ensure our science policy remains responsive to emerging fields and technologies," he added.
The original roadmap, first established in 2010, has guided Iran's investments in priority areas like nanotechnology, biotechnology, and aerospace. The current revision comes as Iran seeks to boost its global research standing despite economic sanctions.
