The vice president for science and technology affairs expressed: pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies in the country have good ability to meet the domestic needs for pharmaceutical products. This capability should be directed to the food sector, especially in the field of livestock, poultry and aquaculture, and with the presence of the private sector and knowledge-based companies, we should be self-sufficient and exportable in meeting these needs.

According to Sattari, 97% of drugs are produced domestically. In this regard, he marked: the remaining drugs that are not produced in the country will be soon domestically manufactured with the planning for infrastructural support of pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies. By employing the best young and creative professionals, while creating jobs and creating value added, they significantly reduce the need for imports and value.

Support of Food and Drug Organization Has Been Effective

Sattari explained the efforts made by the food and drug organization to support knowledge-based companies of the field, claiming: the presence of positive and supportive views in decision-making organizations has helped the flourishing of knowledge-based products. One of our problems is lack of the presence of an organization similar to the food and drug organization in other fields such as aerospace and veterinary medicine.

Pointing out the new step taken in line with the production of new-generation probiotics with the help of knowledge-based companies, Sattari continued: two knowledge-based companies based in Pardis Technology Park have produced probiotic drugs. Probiotics are a new field with a great future and a tremendous capacity to market and create added value. We must always strive to reach the market for these products.

Mentioning the necessity of reducing the import of probiotics and foods with the support of technological ideas and the work of the private sector, Sattari stated: the use of probiotics in today's world is more than just food and plays an important role in health. If the private sector investor is interested in this area, while we can prevent imports of this product, we will see added value and high employment.
