During the ceremony, Sattari talked about the serious advancements made in food and drug field by knowledge-based companies, adding: more than 97% of the country’s need to drugs is supplied by Iranian products manufactured by knowledge-based companies. Other products of the country will be localized with serious planning and infrastructural support of the Vice-Presidency.
“Reliance” Will Become “Export Ability” with the Capability of Knowledge-based Companies
The vice president for science and technology affairs expressed: pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies in the country have good ability to meet the domestic needs for pharmaceutical products. This capability should be directed to the food sector, especially in the field of livestock, poultry and aquaculture, and with the presence of the private sector and knowledge-based companies, we should be self-sufficient and exportable in meeting these needs.
According to Sattari, 97% of drugs are produced domestically. In this regard, he marked: the remaining drugs that are not produced in the country will be soon domestically manufactured with the planning for infrastructural support of pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies. In addition, contracts to produce a considerable number of these drugs have been concluded with knowledge-based companies.
The vice president for science and technology affairs emphasized the necessity of moving toward no reliance on exported food products in the country, declaring: there is a considerable level of reliance on livestock and poultry products, especially probiotics, which necessitates the serious determination of knowledge-based companies and investors to create value added in the field.
Knowledge-based Companies Have Become the Foundation for Attracting Elites
The president of the national elites foundation talked about the value added created by pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies in attracting elites and experts, adding: the food and pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies have reached a level of capability that has minimized the exit of top talents from the country, especially those in the field of health and drugs. By employing the best young and creative professionals, while creating jobs and creating value added, they significantly reduce the need for imports and value.
Support of Food and Drug Organization Has Been Effective
Sattari explained the efforts made by the food and drug organization to support knowledge-based companies of the field, claiming: the presence of positive and supportive views in decision-making organizations has helped the flourishing of knowledge-based products. One of our problems is lack of the presence of an organization similar to the food and drug organization in other fields such as aerospace and veterinary medicine.
Pointing out the new step taken in line with the production of new-generation probiotics with the help of knowledge-based companies, Sattari continued: two knowledge-based companies based in Pardis Technology Park have produced probiotic drugs. Probiotics are a new field with a great future and a tremendous capacity to market and create added value. We must always strive to reach the market for these products.
Mentioning the necessity of reducing the import of probiotics and foods with the support of technological ideas and the work of the private sector, Sattari stated: the use of probiotics in today's world is more than just food and plays an important role in health. If the private sector investor is interested in this area, while we can prevent imports of this product, we will see added value and high employment.

In another part of the ceremony, Iraj Harirchi, the health ministry spokesperson, pointed out the abilities of pharmaceutical knowledge-based companies in supply of the society’s need to drug and health products, expressing: Iran makes up one percent of the world's population, which means it can do a lot of work, and in practice we have proven that we can make good achievements in the field of medicine.
