A position that was improved by Iran with two ranks. Meanwhile, in 2018, Iran was ranked 17th in the world in the index of references to scientific articles.

In this international index, the United States still holds the first place in the world; But predictions suggest that China will overtake the United States.

Because this index is a function of the ranking of countries in the number of published international articles. However, it is still a significant distance from China in terms of references to American scientific papers.

According to the announcement of Scimago Journal & Country Rank, China has surpassed the United States with 684,000 scientific papers, producing 678,000 scientific papers. A phenomenon that changed the scientific equations of the world and ended the years of the United States’ superiority in the publishing scientific articles.

According to the 2019 report, the United States, China and England are ranked first-third in the world, and Iran is 15^th on the ranking system following South Korea, which is higher than countries such as Brazil, Russia, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Occupied Palestinian Territory and Egypt.
