During visiting the science and technology centers of South Khorasan, Sattari met with some of the students and professors of Birjand University of Technology and considered a practical university as the solution for local problems of provinces.

According to the information center of national elites foundation, Sorena Sattari, the vice president for science and technology affairs, stated: I am happy that the university institution in Birjand and all over the country has reached the maturity to allocate its best buildings and facilities for innovation, growth and acceleration centers. Moving in this direction makes it possible for a pragmatic university to be born in the path of solving people's problems. Such a university is at odds with a purely article-based and theoretical university.

In addition to explaining the fundamental duties of university centers, he marked: it is not possible to have several large and inclusive universities in a province, but that province will suffer greatly from problems related to agriculture or the waste of water resources. The university’s duty is solving such problems, which requires the existence of a dynamic university that follows fast, implementable and technological solutions for people’s problems in local societies.

Simultaneous Movement of All Components of the Ecosystem

The vice president for science and technology mentioned: when we see that Birjand University of Technology is moving in this positive direction, all components of the ecosystem based on knowledge-based economy will feel more responsible to accompany this university in this direction. The Vice-Presidency provides spiritual and financial support packages, such as loans and facilities, to knowledge-based and technological activists to move toward excellent and technological goals.

He continued: an ecosystem includes the research and technology fund, science and technology park, accelerators, growth centers, innovation centers and the like designed in the province to provide the most talented platform for the development of innovation in the province. We hope that the enthusiasm for science-seeking at the university will increase again with the spread of corona, and that we will see a large number of young people who love science and the country's knowledge-based ecosystem in universities.

Sattari attended a meeting in the presence of the province’s technologists and authorities held in the science and technology park of South Khorasan and emphasized the acceptable records of the ecosystem in terms of knowledge-based economy in the issue of COVID-19 outbreak. In this regard, he affirmed: fortunately, every time I travel to this province, I see steps forward that are promising. Technology companies and startups need funding, and the private sector needs to be encouraged to consider low-cost investment opportunities in cities and not just the capital.

Pointing out the operationalization of the research and technology fund of the province, Sattari asserted: we hope that with the help of this fund and the attraction of risky investments, we will see the injection of a larger volume of liquidity into technology projects and companies in the province.

During his meeting with the Friday Imam and the representative of the Supreme Leader in the province and the knowledge-based economy and production leap meeting, Sattari evaluated the latest needs and evolutions in the knowledge-based ecosystem of the province and active companies and startups in the east of the country.  

Visiting several exhibitions of knowledge-based products and opening the innovation center of Birjand University of Technology in addition to visiting other academic and scientific centers of the province are other parts of the trip of Sattari to this province.
