According to the Communication and information center in the Vice Presidency of Science, Technology, and Knowledge-Based Economy, the cryogenic research center in the research institute of Energy, water and environmental sciences and technologies of the Sharif University of Technology was put into operation with the presence of Ruhollah Dehghani, the Vice President of Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy and the President of the Sharif University of Technology.

With the support of the Sharif University of Technology, this research center has been set up by Hatco, which has a 26-year experience in designing and manufacturing cryogenic production and storage systems for industrial gases.

This research and technology center was created with the role of the private sector and aims to complete value chains and fully localize cryogenic technology. This research center is supposed to be the link between the public and private sectors.

The cryogenic research center was created to provide human resources, science production, and the development of cryogenic technology from the university source to complete the value chain and technical knowledge.

This research and technology center will be the basis for the presence of technologists in the field of cryogenics, the development of research and technological research, and the production of knowledge-based products in this field. At present, an average of 10 faculty members cooperates with this research center, which will provide the field for wider cooperation and attract experts with knowledge and ability in the field of cryogenics, with the activities of this research and technology center.

It should be mentioned that the air separation technology by the cryogenic method was only the monopoly of five countries before the operation of HATCO company, and due to the lack of this technology in the country, the absorption of technical knowledge and the localization of equipment, this company took a step in the path of cryogenics, and now Iran It is also among the few countries that have this technology.

By liquefying the air in the environment by reducing the temperature to minus 196 degrees Celsius, cryogenic technology turns existing gases into liquid, and different gases, according to their different densities, are placed at different levels and it is possible to separate them for applications that is provided differently.

In this system, the gas reaches the mentioned temperature in a process with high pressure and low temperature, and from the process, gases such as nitrogen, oxygen, and argon are obtained, which are placed in storage tanks after processing and extraction. They are transferred for various purposes.

Hatco's air separation unit or ASU has been localized to a large extent and is among the five countries that have cryogenic technology, and the need for this technology is met with the ability and cooperation of knowledge-based companies and in the form of the activities of this research center.

Currently, knowledge-based companies are cooperating with Hatco in the development of the gas separation unit project, and the joint activity of this company with Nargan Company and Sharif University of Technology to monitor the condition of compressors and gas turbines is in progress. This company has been able to offer much higher quality than Chinese samples and better dimensions, and while enjoying the quality of European samples, that has a lower price.
