The commemoration ceremony of professor Fazlollah Reza, the nation's leading late scientist, was held in the presence of Saeed Sohrabpour, the chief adviser of the national elites foundation, in University of Gilan.


According to the information center of national elites foundation, commemoration ceremony of professor Fazlollah Reza, the nation's leading late scientist, was held in the presence of elites, academics and top talents by the efforts of the national elites foundation and University of Gilan.


During the ceremony, Sohrabpour considered Gilan as one of the elite-nurturing regions of the country, expressing: great men have risen from Gilan, such as Mirza Kuchak Khan, Ayatollah Bahjat Foumani, Dr. Mohammad Moein, professor Ebrahim Pourdavoud, Mohammad Ali Mojtahedi Gilani, professor Majid Samiei, and Professor Fazlollah Reza.


Pointing out the unique moral and scientific features of Professor Reza, Sohrabpour added: some Iranian scientists went even closer to receiving the Nobel Prize, one of whom was professor Reza. However, it must be acknowledged that patriotism and a love of Iranian homeland and culture were the most important moral characteristic of this prominent scholar.


Sohrabpour continued: in addition to his high scientific ranks, Professor Reza provided several services to the world based on the Iranian culture.


The chief adviser of the national elites foundation also marked: he was the son of Sheikh Asadollah Reza, one of the popular Mojtahedins of that time. He was born in Rasht in 1904 and finished high school in Tehran. In addition, he was one of the first students in technical faculty of University of Tehran, and was interested in poetry, literature, philosophy, religion and math. At the age of 25, he wrote three books with the titles of “secret to creation”, “practical and scientific geometrics”, and “radio in plain language”.


He added: in 1944, Professor Reza went to the United States and finished his MSc and PhD in New York University Tandon School of Engineering. From 1967 onwards, he was appointed as the head of Sharif University of Technology and was the head of University of Tehran one year later, laying the foundation for a fundamental change in the education system of the mentioned university. He also established a united system in University of Tehran.


Sorabpour also claimed: Professor Reza was a UNESCO ambassador during 1968-1969, when he had scientific interactions with Sorbonne University. In Iran, he was an honorary member of the Academy of Persian Language and Literature and one of the most enduring figures in the country.


In the end, Sohrabpour pointed out Professor Reza’s attitude to the Iranian culture, asserting: he believed that the Iranian youth must see the truth. They must not be disappointed and must increase their self-confidence.
