According to the information center of national elites foundation, quoted by the headquarters of communication and information, the head of the scientific working group of the Mustafa Prize expressed: awards will be given to experts in three specialized areas of information technology and communication, biomedical and medical science, and nanoscience, and two non-specialized fields. The criteria for the award are having important works and an evident impact on the field. In addition, the person must be a citizen of one of the 57 Islamic countries. However, there is no age, gender, or religion restrictions.
He added: in the fourth area, which is all fields of science and technology, citizenship, age and gender of the scientist is not important and the individual must be only Muslim. In the fifth field, a person will be selected from the scholars living in Islamic countries.
The head of the scientific working group continued: the call for this round of the event was sent to 202 valid scientific international units and 512 scientists from 52 countries. During this time, eight scientific working group sessions, five information technology and communication working group sessions, 14 biotechnology and medicine working group sessions, eight nanotechnology working group sessions, and seven all sciences and technologies working group sessions have been held.

He asserted: in the third round of the event, we received 1649 works, 199 of which were related to the field of information technology and communication. However, 29 works were selected in the initial evaluation, which reduced to a final number of four works. In addition, 664 works related to biotechnology and medicine field were sent to the secretariat, 106 of which were selected in the primary assessment and a total of four works were selected in the end. We also received 172 works in the nanotechnology field, 47 of which were selected. However, no work was chosen in the end. Moreover, 614 works were delivered in the field of all sciences and technologies, eight of which were selected in the primary assessment. In the end, only two works were selected in the field.
Zohour also marked: in the field of scientists residing in Islamic countries, the initial evaluation led to introducing four and eight works in the fields of biotechnology and all sciences and technologies, respectively, after the primary assessment made with the help of 200 universities and 35 countries and spending 4000 time-person. In this regard, two works in the field of biotechnology were selected, and one prize will be jointly given to two scientists. In addition, three scholars from Islamic countries have been selected as winners of this section, and a joint prize will be awarded between the three.
The head of the scientific working group pointed out the prize is given in line with celebrating outstanding scientists and fostering scientific and technological cooperation and development. In this respect, he affirmed: the award was approved by the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution in 2012 as one of the symbols of academic and global excellence. The Mustafa Prize is awarded biennially to the world's leading scholars and researchers. The award is based on an innovative work on the frontiers of knowledge presented by leading individuals in the fields of science and technology to pave the way for the betterment of human life.
