Speaking at a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the National Science Foundation of Iran, Hossein Afshin stressed the need for unity, order, and coordination in supporting elite research, according to the public relations office of the National Elite Foundation.

Afshin reiterated the critical role of the National Science Foundation in addressing serious weaknesses in human resource training and education in emerging technologies such as quantum science.

He underscored the importance of investing in fundamental research and frontier science, noting that the returns would benefit the country in the coming years.

The scientific vice president also argued that supporting and investing in these areas should not be viewed as a cost but as a necessary measure for sustainable development.

Afshin called for an increase in the budget of the foundation to support problem-oriented and fundamental research, matching the country's urgent needs and capacities.

The foundation currently supports around 6,000 students, university professors, and researchers with a budget of 300 billion tomans, he noted.
